Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been a reporter for more than 45 years, focusing on suffering of people in war zones and natural disasters. Curry was a reporter for the wars within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, born November 19, 1956 (Agana) was an American journalist, who was an anchor on television. Curry's reporting was notable because of her coverage of human crisis that occurred in war-torn countries as well as natural catastrophes. Curry's mother is Japanese and her father is another American Naval Sailor. Her parents met while her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. As a result of her father's military service the family has moved around quite a lot. Curry was able to complete her high school education within Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in the University of Oregon. The exposure she received to a variety of cultures and experiences throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy that she has for issues of international significance. They moved frequently, so Curry did not remain in one school for more than two years. She traveled extensively to locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. She started a new career path that would lead to a lucrative career as an intern in broadcasting for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. It was her first time as a female news anchor at this station at the age of 22. Following that, she went into the role of anchor and reporter at KGW which is an NBC affiliate station in Portland. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV just four years after moving to the city. Through the six years she worked for KCBS the station, she won two Emmy Awards.
